Senior Oracle DBA

ASSYST is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to support our client project in Washington DC. This is a Hybrid role.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all aspects of Database operations and administration services in accordance with established processes and guidelines. These include, but are not limited to: 
  • Install, configure, and maintain database instances / servers with the versions required by the client.  
  • Enhance database performance by query and process optimization. 
  • Maintain integrity of database by having proper backup and recovery processes.
  • Apply database changes according to change management procedures.
  • Carry out regular capacity planning activities.
  • Perform database refresh and cloning as required by the respective application teams. 
  • Support the version upgrade and patching activities along with oracle platinum support as planned by the client. 
  • Maintain operational documentation, technical diagrams, and business continuity/disaster recovery procedures.
  • Participate actively in all aspects of infrastructure projects and technical upgrades.
  • Provide database provisioning and technical support services to application development projects. 
  • Perform supporting services for the clients reporting and batch process control platform.
  • Perform Database Backup and Restore activities in close coordination with client ITS teams. 
  • Participate in security audits and compliance initiatives. Ensure the database environment is fully compliant with client security policies and internal controls. 
  • Provide 24/7 incident response for clients production environment.
  • Provide periodic and ad-hoc status reports including KPIs as requested by client delivery lead.
  • Perform periodic performance tuning of applications and capacity planning. 
  • Participate in coding of stored procedure and triggers, using SQL as needed for the operations. 
  • Provide infrastructure support for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Dremio etc., and database environments. 
  • Provide support of the Dremio infrastructure for data engineering needs of the client. 
  • Provide support of IT operations using an onsite/offshore delivery model.
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Overall 12+ years of IT industry experience
  • 7+ years of experience as DBA in Oracle 11g/12c/18c/19c in Red Hat Linux using ASM storage and ext3 file systems.
  • Experience in PostgreSQL and SQL Server is also mandatory (at least 1 year).
  • Unix Shell Scripting experience is required (at least 1 year).
  • Experience in Oracle Transparent Data encryption.
  • Knowledge of Azure data services is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in Oracle RAC.
  • Experience in operating Oracle in the Cloud is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata is required.
  • Relevant experience with Oracle RAC in Red Hat Linux platform.
  • Relevant experience with Oracle ASM file system.
  • Relevant experience with RMAN for backup and recovery.
  • Relevant experience in use of ITIL processes.
  • Relevant experience for SOX/ICFR compliance of critical financial systems.
