ASSYST is looking for a Lead Network Engineer to work from our HQ in Sterling, VA 

The candidate must be a US citizen capable of obtaining a clearance as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of network engineers, Windows/Linux servers, on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software related issues and document lessons learned.
• Work with the internal and external auditors on process improvement and/or security enhancement initiatives.  
• Design, provision, and install routers, switches, peripheral devices.
• Create and interpret network drawings using Visio and other tools.
• Collaborate with vendors, ISPs, and other departments to order, procure, coordinate changes, installations, and relocations of hardware/software.
• Participate in project status and change management meetings.

Qualifications:

• Overall 12+ years of IT industry experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
• Advanced experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Microsoft Azure) preferred.
• Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX command line, scripting tools (Python, Bash), web servers deployment, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Strong experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting at a senior level.
• Proficient in creating and interpreting network drawings and specifications.
• Hands-on experience with network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, Samba, 802.11x).
