Assyst is seeking a Data Architect to provide technical expertise and support for a State client in Tallahassee, FL. This role involves developing, architecting, and maintaining data architectures, mappings, and processes to efficiently manage high-volume, complex data transfers. The selected candidate will collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to design scalable solutions, ensure data governance, and maintain data security and compliance.

Job Description: Data Architect
Location: Tallahassee, FL

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders and the development team to determine project scope, vision, and gather business requirements.
• Design and implement data architectures aligned with business goals, using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, and other Azure services.
• Manage Dedicated SQL Pools in Synapse to optimize large-scale data warehousing and analytics workloads.
• Develop and manage databases using Azure SQL Database and Azure Managed Instance to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Create and maintain ETL processes using Synapse Pipelines for efficient data integration from multiple sources.
• Implement data governance practices and manage the data catalog to ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
• Build and maintain data models that accurately represent the data landscape and ensure performance scalability.
• Ensure data security and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain procedural documentation and system manuals.
• Conduct research on software solutions and provide recommendations based on current and future technology trends.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields (or equivalent work experience).
• 4+ years working with Azure Synapse Analytics, Dedicated SQL Pools, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Managed Instance.
• 5+ years of experience with T-SQL (DDL, DML), including advanced stored procedures, tables, indexes, keys, transactions, and error handling.
• 4+ years in data architecture design, methodologies, and best practices.
• 3+ years of experience with data governance principles and compliance with data security/privacy standards.
• 3+ years in data integration and large pipeline management from various sources.
• 2+ years in Microsoft Azure (cloud computing concepts, storage, compute capabilities).
• 1+ year experience with Python or Scala programming.
• 1+ year of experience with Salesforce, Message MQ, and MuleSoft.
• Certifications Preferred Microsoft Dynamics 365 Certification, Microsoft Dynamics Power Platform Certifications.
