ASSYST is seeking an experienced Senior ETL Developer to support our client in Laurel, MD. The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and administration of ETL processes using Informatica PowerCenter, ensuring seamless data integration and transformation into cloud-based data platforms like Azure Synapse Analytics. This role requires expertise in developing, managing, and optimizing ETL workflows to handle large-scale data from various sources while ensuring high performance and data accuracy.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to implement scalable ETL solutions and ensure compliance with data governance policies. Strong knowledge in cloud technologies, SQL databases, and ETL administration is required, with a focus on performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Location: Laurel, MD 20707(Hybrid - 3 days onsite 2 days remote)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop complex ETL workflows and mappings using Informatica PowerCenter to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
- Integrate data from disparate systems such as databases, flat files, and APIs into data warehouses, lakes, and repositories.
- Administer the Informatica PowerCenter environment, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management.
- Monitor and optimize ETL processes through load balancing, parallel processing, and efficient transformations.
- Identify and resolve ETL issues such as data inconsistencies, job failures, and performance bottlenecks to ensure high availability.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency by implementing rigorous validation checks throughout the ETL process.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and stakeholders to gather requirements and align solutions with business needs.
- Maintain documentation of ETL processes, workflows, mappings, and data models.
- Automate ETL jobs and workflows, scheduling them for optimal execution and managing dependencies.
- Implement data cleansing, data quality checks, and transformation logic to ensure data integrity.
- Ensure ETL processes comply with security standards, data governance policies, and data privacy regulations.
- Manage version control and updates for ETL processes, ensuring smooth production transitions.
- Monitor system resources and scale infrastructure to accommodate future data growth.
- Work with database administrators to optimize database performance for ETL operations.
- Develop error-handling mechanisms, including logging, alerting, and rollback procedures.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers and promote best practices for ETL development.
- Ensure compliance with metadata management, data lineage tracking, and audit trail requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends and implement improvements to enhance ETL processes.
- Expertise in Oracle and SQL Server databases with strong skills in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Preferred experience in Python for building data pipelines.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in ETL development and data integration.
- Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level data solutions.
- Industry experience in water and wastewater utilities with knowledge of Oracle utility applications is preferred.
- Proven experience working on large-scale data projects with a focus on analytics, business intelligence, and enterprise systems.
- Extensive experience with data modeling and database design.
- Expertise in building enterprise-wide analytics solutions with data integration from multiple sources.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle database management with performance optimization.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks to ensure data quality and security.
- Excellent communication skills for translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, especially when handling complex datasets.
