Oracle Database Administrator

ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to join our client in Austin, Texas.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle databases in production and non-production environments. 
 

Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Austin, TX (Remote Role)

Please Note: Position is remote, but Program will only allow candidates who are within the State of Texas

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance database solutions.
  • Build and enhance databases underlying enterprise applications.
  • Perform logical and physical data modeling, including star schema and relational database designs.
  • Develop tools and scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripts.
  • Implement, administer, and monitor Oracle databases in production and non-production environments.
  • Optimize and tune SQL and PL/SQL code for enhanced performance.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and troubleshooting, utilizing tools like Explain Plan for query optimization.
  • Partner with application development teams and business stakeholders to meet database requirements.
  • Provide application and database operations triage support to resolve issues across environments.
  • Assist in developing and implementing database security standards and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Design and implement database automation solutions using tools like Jenkins or similar CI/CD orchestrators.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and workflows to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including backlog grooming and user story development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver database solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Utilize tools such as Erwin Modeling to create data models.
  • Perform data analysis and maintain data dictionaries to ensure uniform definitions and standards.
  • Execute procedures for database backup, retrieval, and recovery.
  • Maintain high availability and data integrity across all environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle APEX development.
  • Expertise in using Oracle SQL Developer and other native tools for database management.


Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience implementing, managing, and monitoring Oracle databases in complex environments.
  • Proven experience with Oracle 11g/19c databases on Solaris/Linux systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL development, and optimization.
  • Experience with database automation and CI/CD workflows using tools like Jenkins.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle APEX development.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle internal views, functions, and architecture.
  • Familiarity with Tablespace consolidation, DBMS reorganization, and index/partition analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex database issues in development and production.
  • Strong collaboration skills to support cross-functional development teams.
  • Experience using Erwin Modeling for data modeling.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
  • Experience with tools like Oracle SQL Developer and performance monitoring utilities.


Preferred:

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (EIR) and assistive technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of database security and disaster recovery practices.
