EHR Systems Analyst

ASSYST is seeking an EHR Systems Analyst for our client in Austin, TX

The EHR Systems Analyst II will be responsible for designing and implementing workflows that integrate seamlessly with the existing system, ensuring a smooth transition and optimal functionality of the new system. This role requires extensive documentation of all migration phases, active engagement with clinical and IT stakeholders for requirements gathering, and clear communication throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/ C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid All Wednesdays Onsite)

The program will only allow candidates who are local to the Austin, TX area.

Responsibilities: 
  • Design and implement workflows that integrate with the existing system to ensure seamless transition and optimal functionality of the new system.
  • Document all phases of the migration process and engage with clinical and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and maintain clear communication throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ensure compliance with the standards, including setting up validation and auditing processes to maintain data integrity post-migration. 
  • Perform thorough testing of the migration process, including unit testing, test script execution, test scenario management, test result analysis, and debugging issues.
  • Utilize established software development and testing standards to ensure the reliability and functionality of the new SaaS solution.
  • Provide regular updates on migration progress to project stakeholders, including managers, technical leads, developers, and business analysts. 
  • Use ticketing systems for information sharing and problem resolution.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and updates to both internal and external audiences, explaining migration processes, system functionality, and technical challenges.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition to the new system by providing post-migration support and oversight.
  • Train end-users, prepare comprehensive system documentation, and recommend strategies for optimizing system performance based on feedback and performance metrics.

Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in database management systems and large-scale data migrations, with a strong focus on healthcare EHR systems such as Cerner Millennium, Epic, or Meditech, involving complex integrations and compliance with HIPAA and HL7/FHIR standards.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, including expertise in advanced SQL scripting, stored procedures, query optimization, and ETL processes for seamless SaaS migrations.
  • 7+ years of expertise in business process analysis, workflow optimization, and automation, identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable, enterprise-level solutions in healthcare IT environments.
  • 7+ years of experience documenting and standardizing business process flows, data models, and system architecture, utilizing tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or ARIS.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and implement data integration solutions using APIs, web services, and middleware platforms like Mulesoft, BizTalk, or Boomi to ensure seamless interoperability between systems.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, compliance frameworks, and cybersecurity best practices to protect sensitive patient information and ensure regulatory compliance with HITECH, GDPR, and SOC 2.
  • Demonstrated expertise in agile project management, SDLC methodologies, and DevOps best practices, utilizing tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow.
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills, with a track record of resolving complex system performance and data integrity issues in high-availability environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring junior analysts, and collaborating with senior stakeholders to drive strategic IT initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms for executive leadership and non-technical teams.

Preferred Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience with SaaS-based EHR implementations, cloud migration strategies, and hybrid cloud architectures (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • 3+ years of experience working with the Texas DIR Project Delivery Framework, preparing project artifacts, and ensuring compliance with state IT governance policies.
  • Strong familiarity with enterprise architecture principles, including TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF frameworks for IT strategy and system modernization.
  • 3+ years of experience in data privacy, security risk assessment, and vulnerability management within healthcare IT environments.
