ASSYST is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support our government client based in Austin, TX.
The position will be hybrid. The program will only allow candidates who are within the City of Austin or the surrounding cities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and monitor integrated database systems.
Optimize database performance and execute performance tuning.
Implement database security, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Assist with database software installation, upgrades, and configurations.
Conduct data modeling, including logical and physical database design.
Ensure database integrity, minimize redundancy, and enforce data standards.
Support users by addressing database issues, accessibility concerns, and technical inquiries.
Collaborate with teams to assess database changes and their impact on systems.
Maintain data dictionaries and enforce uniform data definitions.
Evaluate new database technologies and provide recommendations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in database management, programming, or systems analysis.
Strong knowledge of database structures, design principles, and query optimization.
Proficiency in database management systems and security best practices.
Familiarity with EIR accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot performance and security issues.
Additional job details:
The critical duties will be advanced performance tuning on complex processes on multi-terabyte databases with heavy transaction volumes.
Initial duties include installing Oracle Database 19c, Oracle RAC, and Golden Gate to establish a new database tier and capacity planning for the ERP upgrade project.
Core duties include the standard administration and support responsibilities of backup, recovery, monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning, and assisting the upgrade project team as needs arise.
Required Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in Oracle Database 12c or higher
Oracle RAC
Golden Gate
Advanced SQL
Shell scripting
Supporting multi-terabyte database
Advanced performance tuning
(at least 4) Experience with Microsoft O365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
(at least 2) Experience with MS Team and Channel communication with a large team
Preferred experience:
Experience working with a public sector organization (Federal, State, or Local Government)
Experience with SharePoint
Experience with Jira
Experience working with the Scrum framework
