ASSYST is looking for a motivated Junior AWS Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sterling, VA
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices. You will work alongside senior engineers to design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
The candidate must be a US citizen eligible for a security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage AWS cloud workloads and ensure applications uptime.
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly tasks and collaborate with application support teams.
- Implement DOD STIGs to strengthen security posture.
- Perform security scans and work on issue resolutions.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot cloud-related issues.
- Support the automation of deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Implement security best practices and compliance guidelines within AWS environments.
- Optimize cloud costs and resources for efficiency.
- Assist in the design, deployment, and management of AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Document cloud architecture, configurations, and processes.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience working with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (VPC, Subnets, Security Groups, Route Tables).
- Experience with Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
- Networking, security related certification like CCNA, Security+
