Business Analyst - Mainframe Transformation Program

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to perform advanced (senior-level) business analysis work in support of the Mainframe Transformation Program for our client in Austin TX. 

This program involves multiple complex technology projects, including the implementation of modern hardware and software solutions, Software as a Service (SaaS) / Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, data migration, and the development of a Data Warehouse. Prior experience with RRC Oil and Gas systems knowledge/experience is preferred.

Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Austin, TX (Fully Remote)


Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced business analysis and documentation for multiple integrated technology projects.
  • Elicit and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements using industry-standard methods.
  • Analyze and document business processes, workflows, and data requirements.
  • Create and maintain deliverables such as business requirements, functional specifications, process flows, use cases, prototypes, and data models.
  • Facilitate workshops and interactive sessions with stakeholders, technical teams, and cross-functional groups.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and resolution of production support issues.
  • Assist with defining and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and other testing activities.
  • Support system implementation, training, and transition to production.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are consistent, high-quality, and compliant with RRC methodologies and standards.
  • Support special projects, research initiatives, and process improvement activities as needed.
  • May mentor or supervise other team members as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of business analysis experience on software development projects.
  • 8+ years of experience preparing project-related documentation.
  • 8+ years of experience facilitating requirements elicitation, creating documentation (traceability, use cases, prototypes, data models).
  • 8+ years of experience facilitating workshops and interactive sessions with business and technical teams.
  • 8+ years of strong production support analysis experience, including root cause analysis and resolution documentation.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and proficiency in technical writing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and prototyping/mocking tools (e.g., Visio, SnagIt, Adobe Illustrator, Axure).
  • Ability to develop and maintain a deep understanding of business drivers and processes.
  • Experience in facilitating user acceptance testing, training, and implementation activities.
  • Ability to work independently with considerable latitude for initiative and judgment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with mainframe environments, SQL, Salesforce, Remedyforce, Core Java / J2EE, and relational databases.
  • Experience in process improvement strategies and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead change and design more efficient business processes.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry and/or regulatory, compliance, or enforcement projects.
  • Strong conflict resolution and team collaboration skills.
