Technical Writer

ASSYST is seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support our client in Austin TX

Location: Austin, TX
Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Position: Onsite, No Remote Work Allowed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive user manuals, technical documentation, and project process guides to support Information Technology teams.
  • Translate complex technical concepts and user workflows into clear, concise, and logically sequenced procedures.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on applications, systems, and end-user interactions to ensure accurate and user-friendly documentation.
  • Author a wide range of documentation including technical articles, reports, brochures, and manuals for various audiences and purposes.
  • Perform advanced-level technical writing duties, managing the composition, organization, and editing of highly complex material.
  • Prepare and refine written content for executive speeches, public presentations, and high-level communications.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to document the current technical environment, policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis and research to generate actionable insights and inform decision-making.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by analyzing processes, visualizing data, and identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Lead data evaluation efforts by asking critical questions, engaging key stakeholders, and using insights to support staff, programs, and operational goals.
     
Requirement:
  • 8+ Years of experience in composing, reviewing, and editing technical documents, policy manuals, procedural documents, operational guidelines, materials, and reports.
  • Previous experience researching, developing, and disseminating information on techniques for organizing and presenting policy, procedure and technical information.
  • Ability to consult with technical staff in the development of documentation, policy and procedural material.
  • Previous experience preparing responses to correspondence, reports, surveys, questionnaires, and other requests for information
  • Experience creating and presenting policy and procedure updates, reports, options and feedback to upper management and C Level stakeholders.
  • Previous technology writing experience in the public sector
  • Knowledge of IT policies and procedures
