Network Administrator

ASSYST is seeking a Network Administrator to support our government customer based in Austin, TX. The Network Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, wireless networks, and Internet systems. This role ensures network availability, performance, and security by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware, software, and related systems.

The working position is On Site.
Location – Austin, TX

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage Windows Server environments (2012 or later) within an Active Directory domain.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 services including user provisioning, mailbox administration, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Configure and support core TCP/IP services including LDAP, DHCP, DNS, and SMTP.
  • Manage Access Control Lists, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), file/print services, and automation platforms.
  • Provide operational support for VoIP phone systems and imaging/document management systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Cisco networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Administer Meraki wireless infrastructure and support LAN/WAN, wireless access points, and telecom systems.
  • Monitor network performance and health using tools like PRTG, MRGT, and ManageEngine; resolve issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform software and hardware updates, upgrades, and proactive troubleshooting.
  • Prepare documentation for audits, compliance, and internal reporting.
  • Perform network tuning and capacity planning.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures.
  • Provide user training and technical support, including developing training materials.
  • Evaluate new or upgraded hardware/software and report on benefits and risks.
Required Experience:
  • Experience in Network Administration or Support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft server environments, Microsoft 365, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki network equipment and VoIP systems.
Other Requirements:
  • Submit weekly progress reports covering work completed and current priorities.
  • Provide timely incident/request resolution and status updates on risks or maintenance.
  • Maintain up-to-date system and network documentation.
  • Pass a criminal history check and complete required IT Security training (certificate required).
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for maintenance or urgent incidents.
Preferred Experience:
  • Supporting compliance-driven IT environments.
  • Working within virtualized environments to ensure system uptime and scalability.
  • Monitoring and analyzing network performance using PRTG, MRGT, ManageEngine.
  • Performing proactive troubleshooting to reduce system downtime.
  • Preparing documentation for audits and internal reporting.
