Project Manager

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Project Manager for our state client in Austin, TX. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all phases of the project to ensure successful delivery. This role focuses on replacing legacy systems with a modern solution that enhances functionality, improves operational efficiency, and supports future scalability. The Project Manager will apply industry-standard project management practices within Agile (Scrum) environments, ensuring alignment with both business and technical objectives. Key responsibilities include developing project charters, work plans, and related artifacts, managing stakeholder communications, and coordinating with clients and IT teams to ensure smooth project execution. The candidate must possess the ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical and business processes and deliver presentations to leadership as required. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required. Scrum Master or equivalent project management certifications are considered a plus.

Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Austin, TX (ONSITE/Hybrid - 2 Days onsite - 3 Days Remote)
The program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing design and development work.
  • Managing the project with feature-driven Agile methodology, overseeing and tracking development progress, and ensuring project assignments and progress align with project timelines.
  • Developing and managing project plans.
  • Documenting risks, issues, and contingency plans; ensuring resolution of issues and removal of project barriers.
  • Providing weekly status updates (written and verbal) and conducting regular project team status meetings.
  • Overseeing the development of SDLC artifacts, ensuring business requirements are translated into technical specifications, guiding, and facilitating the SDLC process.
  • Developing and maintaining solid relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Possessing effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Possessing strong teamwork skills.
  • Transferring working knowledge to current staff.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Independently performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Project management experience in large-scale enterprise implementations
  • Experience managing projects for the State of Texas or similar federal/state agencies
  • Hands-on development experience
  • PMP certification (required)
  • Experience with state procurement and contracting processes
  • Proficiency with Jira for project tracking and management
