Job Summary
The Technical Writer serves as the primary communication liaison for IT project teams and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating technical, business, and user documentation. This role ensures documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with organizational standards, including PMO standards and Rule 60GG-1, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation for IT projects.
Create business documentation, including project plans, business cases, and requirements documents.
Produce user documentation such as user guides, manuals, and training materials.
Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather and validate information.
Ensure documentation accuracy, clarity, and compliance with organizational and PMO standards.
Update documentation as project requirements and systems evolve.
Use documentation tools and software to create and manage documents.
Conduct interviews and research to understand technical and business requirements.
Review and edit documentation created by team members.
Prepare status reports, support management briefings, and document meetings.
Document user stories and business IT system requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or a related field, or three (3) years of equivalent work experience.
3+ years of business or technical writing experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly documentation.
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience creating technical, business, and user documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong attention to detail.
Experience with status reporting, meeting facilitation, and documentation.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
